ABOUT SABIRA WOOLLEY

With her pure and expressive voice, and inspired musicianship, Sabira is an artist who reaches the soul. Her performances are playful, her messages are insightful, deep and compassionate. Her music appeals to a wide range of people of diverse tastes.

Sabira (pronounced “sAy-brr-äh”) has toured throughout California, the Caribbean, Western Canada, Mexico, Greece, France and Hawaii, expanding her musical range from multi-cultural influences. Sabira has performed in numerous Concerts, Expositions, Cruise Ships, Musicals, Rennaissance Faires, Street Theatre Troupes, Wholistic Celebrations and Benefits. She has been featured on TV shows including a PBS concert special and a spot on P.M. Magazine. Her original music has received airplay on California radio stations (B100, KIFM, KGB and KSDS). Sabira has written, recorded and performed compositions for special events, awareness courses, meditation workshops and documentaries. Her customized original meditation music and voice recordings have gained a wide and appreciative audience.

Sabira loves nature and wildlife. She lives in southern CA in the country, surrounded by wilderness, and not far from the sea.
Sabira found her calling in her early teens. At age 16, she sang and played guitar with a group of talented buskers in The Gastown district of Vancouver, Canada. Always eclectic, she moved to the San Francisco bay area, began playing the banjo, and sang folk, rock, reggae, jazz and opera in various coffeehouses and nightclubs.
In San Diego, Sabira and keyboard virtuoso Ron Nathan formed the Island Fever band, and added the sparkling sound of steel pans. Island Fever performed every summer for over a decade at the San Diego Zoo, and became so popular that they often played 7 days a week and multiple shows on weekends.

Island Fever has recorded two CDs of Caribbean songs. Then Sabira Woolley, Ron Nathan, and Jasmine Feliz recorded “Eckasha Flame”; an album of original meditation music, that received many glowing reviews and has become a collector’s item. Following that, they recorded Ron Nathan’s original African inspired CD, Savannah Dreams. Sabira has been slowly and lovingly adding to her current original music compilations.

Sabira writes helpful and entertaining articles for professional and aspiring to be professional musicians for BellaOnline, and answers questions on a myriad of topics (mostly music and animal related) on Quora.
